Hi!
Welcome to The Itis!
This is a new start for The Itis. I'll share my own recipes, recipes that have inspired me, photos and videos of me cooking, and so much more. This isn't just a cooking and food blog. I love the culture and significance of food from the African diaspora.
What do we eat?
Why do we eat certain things historically and socio-politically?
How has food helped shape how we see the world around us?
Where is the culture of Diasporic food going in the future?
These are important questions and ones that I plan to spend my life trying to answer.
Food is not just fuel for our bodies. Food, to me, has a more sentient presence. It can communicate and nurture and heal our minds, bodies, and souls.
"Tell me what you eat, and I will tell you what you are."
